This section of the guide covers everything you need to know about troubleshooting encounters. If you are missing targets and wondering how to fix the problem, this is the place to be.
According to PokeFinder, we were expecting a shiny Pokemon, but the Regigigas we are in battle with is not shiny. You will now need to use PokeViewer to inspect the details of the Pokemon you are in battle with.
If your target is from an encounter, you will need to use the EncounterView
feature, if your target is a gift you will instead need to use the BoxView
feature.
We can now see the details of the Pokemon on-screen. We will use this information to find the Pokemon we actually hit using PokeFinder, then compare the difference in advances between the Pokemon we actually hit, and our target frame.
Figure 3 - PokeFinder SearchEnter the exact IVs of the missed target into PokeFinder, set the shiny filter to non-shiny if you are searching for a shiny and found a non-shiny, then search again without changing the seed.
Figure 4 - Actual Frame HitWe can see that we hit the frame 152, when our target frame was frame 150, which means we missed the target by overshooting by 2 frames. This means that we should adjust the delay by +2 to account for the overshoot.
After adjusting the delay value accordingly, we were able to hit the correct frame and achieve a shiny Regigigas.
Note - Depending on how quick the natural RNG advancments are in the area you are in, you may need to do multiple delay calibrations to find a delay value suitable for your target.
