Cram-o-matic RNG (CFW)

A guide for manipulating the Cram-o-matic to obtain rare Poké Balls and other goodies.

The Cram-o-matic is located inside the Dojo on the Isle of Armor. Once you have progressed far enough in the story to unlock access to the machine, you can "feed" it items from your bag to generate items such as the rare Apricorn, Safari, and Sport Balls or Ribbon and Star sweets for Alcremie. Rare items will be the main focus of this guide as most other rewards are nonrandom. See these recipes on Serebii for everything else.

Important - From here, we assume that you are familiar with key concepts described on the main page. If you are unsure about seed monitoring, advancement methods, or NPC calibration, please review the relevant sections before continuing.
In-game Requirements
Cram-o-matic Recipes

The following recipes are the minimum required ingredients to be eligible for each reward. You may add the items in any order.

Item Required Recipe
Heavy Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a Black Apricorn. Adding more Black Apricorns increases the rate of Heavy Balls.
Lure Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a Blue Apricorn. Adding more Blue Apricorns increases the rate of Lure Balls.
Friend Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a Green Apricorn. Adding more Green Apricorns increases the rate of Friend Balls.
Love Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a Pink Apricorn. Adding more Pink Apricorns increases the rate of Love Balls.
Level Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a Red Apricorn. Adding more Red Apricorns increases the rate of Level Balls.
Fast Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a White Apricorn. Adding more White Apricorns increases the rate of Fast Balls.
Moon Ball 4 Apricorns, where at least 1 is a Yellow Apricorn. Adding more Yellow Apricorns increases the rate of Moon Balls.
Safari Ball 4 of the same color of Apricorn. Any color works.
Sport Ball 4 Apricorns in at least 2 different colors.
Ribbon & Star Sweet

Recipe 1 - 4 common Alcremie sweets (Strawberry, Love, Berry, Clover, Flower).

Recipe 2 - 3 common Alcremie sweets and 1 Whipped Dream.

Recipe 3 - 2 common Alcremie sweets and 2 Whipped Dream.

Recipe 4 - 1 Whipped Dream and 3 Weakness Policy (BP Items).

Information - Apricorns can be found randomly in berry trees scattered around the Isle of Armor.

The sweet items can be obtained through the nonrandom Cram-o-matic recipes on Serebii or the Battle Cafés as daily rewards.

Getting Started (Game Setup)
  1. Collect all the resources you need for this RNG manipulation. Refer to the above table for the correct recipes for rare Poké Balls and Alcremie Sweets.
  2. Enter the Dojo in the Isle of Armor, and stand in front of the Cram-o-matic. Save the game.
  3. Calibrate your menu NPC count. Take note of this value for later as menu close prediction will be used to confidently hit targets.

When calibrating NPC count inside buildings, set the current weather condition to Normal Weather. NPC count will remain the same between attempts unless you progress the IoA story quest. You should see 21-22 NPCs with completed story; this variation depends on if you have collected the Porygon gift.

Getting Started (Tool Setup)
  1. Enter the IP address of your console in the main window and click Connect. This will automatically read your current seed and save file details.
  2. At the top of the main owoow window, click Cram-o-matic to open the Cram-o-matic generator in a subwindow.
  3. Enter the number of advances you are willing to search through into the + field. Usually, you will find any desired result in under 200,000 advances.
  4. Select your Target from the drop-down menu, and click the Bonus Only? checkbox if you are aiming for results that produce multiple rare Poké Balls.
  5. Refer to the table above for recipes that produce rare items. Select the items you plan to add to the Cram-o-matic. You may add the items in any order, but the order in owoow must match the order in-game for accurate prediction.
  6. Tick the Consider Menu Close? checkbox, then enter the NPC count that you calibrated earlier. You can now begin searching for targets.

If you are not seeing any results, you may not have the correct ingredients selected. For example, if you are looking for Heavy Balls but did not add any Black Apricorns, the Cram-o-matic will never produce a Heavy Ball.

If you have verified the ingredients and still do not find any results, you will need to increase your search range, change your search filters to be less restrictive, or reset the game for a better seed.

Note that you can change the order of items you add to alter the results. For example, if the first hit generates based on the 3rd item, you can make sure to add a specific Apricorn in the 3rd slot to take advantage of the result.

Advancing Towards a Target

In this example, a Safari Ball with the 5x bonus will be produced in a cluster from advances 40,329-40,331. We will aim to close the X Menu on these advances, then quickly interact with the Cram-o-matic to lock in our desired result.

It is important to interact with the Cram-o-matic on the frame that produces the expected result. Once the dialogue box is open, the reward will be locked in unless the player backs out of the dialogue to the overworld.

Step-by-Step
  1. Advance toward your target using any of the methods listed on this page.
    • If your target is over 50,000 advances away, consider using wet weather (will require exiting the Dojo) or date skipping. It is unlikely you will need to use these methods.
    • For closer targets, consider using NPC activation (use any of the NPCs in the Dojo) or menu close to advance shorter distances. Most targets will be within this range.

  2. Stop advancing once you are ~300-500 advances before your target. Give yourself more leeway if you have left your position. If you have moved, reposition yourself in front of the Cram-o-matic so you can immediately interact with it.
  3. Open the X Menu to pause the game.
  4. Click Update Seeds on the main window of owoow to send your current seed into the active subwindow.
  5. Ensure that the Consider Menu Close? checkbox is checked in the Cram-o-matic subwindow, and confirm that your NPC count has been calibrated and entered correctly. Search for your target again.
    • Do not use the Holding Direction? checkbox on owoow. This increases the difficulty of hitting your target frame as we are already standing next to the Cram-o-matic.
  6. From this point, use attack animations to reach the exact target frame.
  7. Close the Pokémon window so you are on the main X Menu.
  8. Unpause the game by pressing B. Do not touch the joystick when unpausing as we are already positioned next to the Cram-o-matic.
  9. Quickly interact with the Cram-o-matic to lock your item result in place. Now you can take your time feeding the correct combination of items in the correct order to produce the expected reward.

In Figure 4, we closed the X Menu on the desired target frame and quickly interacted with the Cram-o-matic. Now we need to feed it the correct combination of items, which should produce the expected reward.
